Our Mission
PAES exists to be a light in our community and to unlock the potential of every child.
Our Vision
Our students are known for their reflection of Christ’s character through their commitment to service, their strong work ethic and their ability and willingness to step up and lead in a diverse and changing world.
Our teachers are committed to ensuring every student’s success through the use of innovative, engaging instruction using best practices that will meet the varying social, emotional and academic needs of today’s learner; nurturing and loving each child as demonstrated through Christ’s example.
Our school families are known for their commitment to the success of all children as well as their partnership and involvement with our learning community.
About the School Board
PAES is governed by a Board of Directors whose members are appointed by thirteen Seventh-day Adventist churches in the greater Portland and Gresham area. Each of these churches give financial support to the school.
Board meetings are held at PAES on the 3rd Monday of each month at 7pm. Board meetings are open to the entire school community, with the exception of executive sessions.
NOTE: If planning to attend, call the school office at: 503-665-4102 to confirm meeting schedule.
Core Values
We are just as committed to teaching academic excellence as we are to teaching character through our school’s core values, The 5 C’s.
The 5 C’s are: Caring, Cooperation, Courage, Courtesy and Common Sense.
Embraced school wide, these core values help us to create an environment throughout campus that allows students to grow in confidence and with a sense of responsibility to their community.
The 5 C’s help guide our behavior as we strive to be a reflection of Christ in all that we say and do. Students are recognized and acknowledged for modeling The 5 C’s.
What We Believe - Education
The Seventh-day Adventist Church recognizes God as the ultimate source of existence, truth and power. In the beginning God created a perfect humanity in His image, a perfection later marred by sin. Education, in its broadest sense, is a means of returning human beings to their original relationship with God. An education of this kind imparts far more than academic knowledge. It fosters a balanced development of the whole person: spiritual, physical, intellectual, social and emotional—a process that spans a lifetime.
What We Believe - Religion
As a Christian church, Seventh-day Adventists are a faith community rooted in the Bible—the source of our beliefs.
Currently, Adventists hold 28 fundamental beliefs that can be organized into six categories: the doctrines of God, man, salvation, the church, the Christian life and last day events. In each teaching, God is the architect, who in wisdom, grace and infinite love, is restoring a relationship with humanity that will last for eternity.
