Students spent the last day before Christmas break doing all sorts of fun and exciting things… special hints of Christmas cheer were all around campus. Everywhere you looked you saw celebration… from Christmas crafts to classroom parties, the PAES Middle School “12 Days of Christmas” to gathering together and singing Christmas carols and, of course, decorating cookies with *all* the sprinkles!!!

“12 Days of Christmas” – every year the 8th grade class selects a theme and creates costumes, which they incorporate into an original 12 Days of Christmas song. This is shared with the entire school during our morning Christmas song time in the library.  This year’s theme was candy:

What a SWEET bunch of Jolly Ranchers, M&Ms, Gummy Bears, Kit Kats, Candy Canes, Hershey’s, York Patties, Tootsie Rolls, Reeses, Red Vines, Sour Patch Kids and Smarties!!!

Christmas crafts, decking the halls:

Annnnnnnnnd (drum roll!!!) photo proof that elementary students truly are sprinkle cookies pros:

Lastly, our Communication’s & Publishing class (the Middle School students who bring you The Panther Post) spent some time earlier this week writing short essays about what Christmas means to them… chosen at random, here is one essay:

Irreplaceable

by Story O.

Merry Christmas! When I hear those words it means family and friends… presents and stockings full of candy fill my dreams… Christmas is a time of year that nothing and no one on earth can ruin. Joy overwhelms me and I can’t wipe the smile of my face!!!

The number one reason that I treasure and adore Christmas is my family. We pack up our luggage and presents then head to my favorite state: Arizona. We get to see my favorite uncle, aunt and cousin. We spend lots of time together. We go shopping every day and we go see one of my best childhood friends. We spend the whole day together playing games and just talking and we always eat a big lunch. When we are done eating we clean up and go do something. In past years we have gone to see movies or gone bowling. It doesn’t matter where we go or what we do… I just love being with my family!!!

The next reason that I love Christmas is the presents. Every Christmas morning we go downstairs and open our stockings and then take turns opening presents. This goes on for the whole morning. When we are done we eat the best lunch ever: brisket, which is made by my uncle.

Overall, I just love Christmas. It means the world to me… it means joy and happiness… it means family and friends… it is a time of year nothing can ever replace. I just love the feeling when it comes, the feeling that I know I get to go to my favorite state and that I get to see my childhood friend. I love the presents and giving presents. It makes me feel warm inside. What Christmas means to me? It means everything.
